A California Towhee

For the longest time couldn't find this birds name.  Mysteriously appearing out of the brushes.  A quick chirp.  A fast peck to pick up the seed.  An unpretentious set of feathers.  Lovely.  Makes me feel right at home.  A mystery no more.

Food Factory

A warm sunny day. Not a stir. Not a wind. Blanketed in sunshine. Everything is so calm. Everything is so quiet. Or is it?
A Cooper Hawk's Delight

A squirrel on a redwood tree. He goes up and down in small spurts. After a small sprint, he stops abruptly. And watches. He heads up a tree. Suddenly turns and heads down. Then he moves sideways around the broad trunk. All to avoid me. I will not harm him. The cooper hawk above will. He missed it completely: breakfast. Redwood smiles.

Iridescent. Camouflaged. Brilliant. Shinning. Some of the words that cannot exist without him. What can even possibly exist without him?
